Ruins of Ciullumyrr

The story of the city of Ciullumyrr is undeniably a sad one.  Several hundred years ago, Ciullumyrr was the gem of the North, an extremely wealthy and picturesque city located in what was, at the time, a lush valley whose name has been long forgotten.  The city's rulers were just and wise, and Ciullumyrr prospered under their rule.

However, beneath the calm and ideal-looking surface, all was not well.  It is said that a cabal of evil magicians took to practicing an unspeakable dark magic that drew-upon and drained the surrounding lands of their vitality to power their spells; even worse, the magic eventually corrupted the people of the city, and drove them insane--the once-just rulers became cruel tyrants intent on conquering the rest of Lynncair, and the dark magicians rose to positions of power.

Forced to take action, Kranomyrr sent forth troops to quell the uprising; Ciullumyrr's army was one without match, for its warriors were skilled and extremely well-equipped, and the people of the Empire feared that the army of the capital would be defeated.  A great and bloody battle was fought in the valley, and the once-lush fields--which had been turned to an arid canyon devoid of life by the magicians' magic--ran with the blood of the combatants for days after the battle was done; to this day, the river that runs through the valley is tainted red.  The Empire's army was indeed turned back by the Ciullumyrrians, and the combatants from Kranomyrr began to lose hope--hence, the region's current name, the Valley of Lost Faith--yet reinforcements from Cloneloth arrived just in time to save the Empire's forces when they were on the verge of utter defeat.

After defeating the Ciullumyrrian army, the forces of the Empire and the reinforcements from Cloneloth razed the once-great city, knocking down buildings and walls and burning everything that would catch-fire; their intent was to purge the world of the evil that had taken hold of Ciullumyrr, once and for all.  All that remains at the site of the city today is a deserted, expansive ruin rumored to be inhabited by ghosts of the civilians who were slaughtered by the forces of Cloneloth and Kranomyrr.  Whether or not all the magicians responsible for the Ciullumyrrian conflict were killed remains unknown.
