Kiastar

Kiastar is a large city located on what is all-but an island in the North-West of Lynncair; it is connected to the mainland by an immense marble bridge thought to date back to the times of the Gods, and to have been constructed with The Power Superior.  Kiastar is, on paper, in the Empire's domain, but it conducts itself like its own country, and the Empire has made no move in the past several decades to force Kiastar to acknowledge their actual status.  Ruled by a theocracy that--despite his being dead--worships Azarban, the Lynncairen God of Wealth and Prosperity, Kiastar is a place of great wealth, where the common folk are rich, the nobles richer, and the religious officials richest.

Those from Kiastar are often hostile to men and women from the Lynncairen mainland, without actually attacking them; there is no love lost between the two peoples, and not a lot of travel or exchange of ideas or goods occurs between them.  Kiastar trades mainly with the Isles of Dretorya, to the South.

The actual city of Kiastar is an architectural marvel; with such a wealthy population, those rare travelers who have been to the city speak of encountering precious metals and stones at every turn, embedded in the streets and the walls and the buildings.  People reportedly wear silks of exotic colors--most notably bright, emerald-green--from Dretorya; for this reason, Lynncairens sometimes call Kiaster "The Emerald City".

Kiastar upholds its own military, an obvious fact considering that more than a few civil wars have occurred between Kiastar and the mainland.  Generally, the soldiers of Kiastar do not wear much armor, but make up for this lack of defense with their deadly talent in archery and, in close quarters, with short polearm weapons wielded with two hands, with a slightly curved blade ideal for slicing and piercing.

Kiastar's official province colors are, predictably, gold, silver, and green.
