The Encyclopedia of Lynncair

Dantoun is a small settlement that doesn't even show up on most maps of Lynncair; it is a tired place, located where the Dantoun River crosses the North-West Kranomyrr Road. Inhabitants include woodsmen and hunters, mainly; it boasts no attractions to speak of, and not a lot of people head up to the North-West of Lynncair anyways. It is a convenient last stop before hitting the Kiastarel, however, for adventurers hoping to explore the great forest to the North-West of Lynncair.

Dantoun was the most heavily-raided of the Lynncairen cities and towns when Kiastar struck out in an attempt to claim some of the mainland, and it has never truly recovered--economically or otherwise--from the battle fought there, and the devastation wreaked by Kiastar's military. Many buildings still lie in ruined heaps, and the rebuilding of the town's protective wooden walls is a slow, continuing process. Citizens from Dantoun are often bitter and resentful towards the Empire for the neglect Lynncair's government has shown for their cause in rebuilding their town in the aftermath of the Kiastar conflicts...hence the common expression, "Bitter as a Dantouni".
