Vyran the Scholar, often referred to as "The Moongazer", was a fairly reclusive lore-hunter who developed an extreme fascination with astrological phenomena towards the end of his life. Obsessed with things such as eclipses of the sun and the moon and the nature of stars and constellations, Vyran spent every waking moment of the final few years of his life studying the heavens in what many believe was a final desperate search for greater understanding and meaning.

In his will, Vyran stated that he wished to be buried in secret in a cavern complex (now known as the Caverns of Vyran) which he stated "were perfect" for some experiment or process that he alluded to cryptically several times--what appeal those caverns held for Vyran remains unknown. Whoever may have carried out Vyran's wish and buried him in those caverns indeed did it in secret--no one has ever located The Moongazer's final resting place.
