The Witcher = Teh Awesome

I shan't mince words: The Witcher is shaping up to be my new favorite game of all-time, and I'm only now leaving Kaer Morhen. It's perfect. It's the game I've been waiting for since my first RPG, Summoner. Summoner had a chain-attack system where basically you could link your attacks indefinitely if you clicked at the right time during your attack sequence; it was simple, but it made fighting a matter of skill and timing rather than just relying on dice rolls, and I loved it. Since then, I haven't found a single other game that used a chain-attack system (even Summoner 2 ditched it!)...until The Witcher. Add to this the fact that it will soon have a toolset available, that the graphics are the best I've seen ever, and that it uses a pregenerated character (I'm a big fan of pregens), and you've got a winner. It's basically Summoner on steroids...lots of steroids. And this makes me very, very happy. :)

It gets alot better, Hugie :) Although I would have to say Chapter I is probably the most boring of them all. My favorite chapter was probably 4. The scenery was just awesome-rific near the lake.

Have fun with that ;)

I'm going to pick it back up after I finish Mass Effect. I played through the tutorial level (which was excruciatingly long in my opinion) and it kind of got lost in the shuffle of life.

I've thought about checking it out. I've heard the content is mature so I may not get much play in with my kids watching.

Isn't Summoner by Volition? If so Volition is in the city I live in, and I know some of the guys who work there. Small world I suppose.

@anduraga:

Great to hear! I can't wait. :D

@dirtywick:

Yeah, I must say that there are some things (such as the extremely long tutorial level, the painful loading times, the...interesting dialogues) that aren't all that great about the game. It's just that I'm really excited to find an heir to my first RPG gameplay-wise, one that features such breathtaking graphics and cinematics. :)

@ernie:

It's definitely, definitely worth it. There is *some* mature stuff, but you'll be able to see it coming from a mile away.

And yeah, that's right! Wow I loved that game. Next time you see them, tell them you know their biggest (Summoner) fan!!11!1one!! ;)

Does that mean you'll leave the NWN2 modding scene and take up the Witcher toolset? I sure hope not...I'd miss your content!

Heh, thanks ladyelvenstar. :) I'm sticking with NWN2 until Moonshadows 2 is done, at least, and I also have my Ossian duties to keep in mind...so I'll be around for awhile. ;) But I think after Moonshadows 2, regardless of what I'm doing with Ossian, I'll try my hand at modding with the Djinni.

One of the problems I foresee with the Djinni is that the interiors are all made in 3DS-Max and not in the toolset. This was the same problem with the Infinity Toolset, unless you're that talented.

And just to add, I think my biggest problem with the Witcher is that the translation can be pretty bad sometimes. I can't count how many times Geralt said How? like an angry madman in a situation that didn't quite warrant it. There were a few other oddities thrown into the mix as well.

There are also some priceless moments in Witcher you'll never forget like the final boss' final words and the Eager Thighs Brothel. Classics :)
