Area Design Work
So today I decided to build my first exterior area in, like, awhile. It turned out pretty nicely, if I may say so myself...I even took an in-toolset screenshot for you (so not all nicely rendered with the pixel-shading etc., but you get the drift).

While I was building this area, I noticed that a few new textures had been added--specifically, another cliff/rock texture which is slightly darker than the one I had been using. I liked it so much that I went through all areas where it was appropriate and used the super-fancy "Swapper" tool to just do a quick "replace all" of one stone texture for the other, which made me quite happy. Also, I've been using the "Undo" function that was included to textures, grass and terrain in the 1.06 patch, and it makes life SO much easier. THANK YOU OBSIDIAN. Now, if only NWN2 itself were fun to play... :P
Anyhow, made good progress building that area from scratch. Perhaps I'll get some more done before dinner and bed.

Hmmm... I personally enjoy it more than NWN1, except for very occasional interior pathing issues, which usually can be avoided via careful design. -B

Looks great! Looking forward to seeing this completed, contact me on the vault if there's anything a not so skilled with the tool set person can do to help:)
@Berliad:
Yeah, I guess it's a matter of personal preference...one major improvement was the 50% adjustment made to how severe one's turns are using the WASD movement controls (which are all I use); they were WAY too sensitive before, and it made navigation really difficult for me at the beginning. In the little bit of playing I've done recently, that was one thing I noticed improved a lot. :)
I wish I could pinpoint what it is that makes the game un-fun for me...I've tried but to not much avail. It just doesn't feel as crisp as games like NWN1 and Titan Quest do...Dungeon Siege II falls between these and NWN2 in my book on the clunkiness meter (it's not so bad that I can't enjoy it). Ah well...at least the toolset remains fantastic! I like it more with each passing day! :)
@sirchet:
Thanks for the kind words and even kinder offer! The campaign itself is going to be a solo effort from start to finish, but I'm sure there'll be no shortage of positions available for beta testers, if that's something you would be interested in when the time comes...? In any event, thanks again. :)
